What We Offer

Hemmoroid Banding

Hemorrhoid Banding – or rubber band ligation – is the most common outpatient procedure for hemorrhoids in the United States. This hemorrhoid treatment is a 10-minute, in-office procedure that does not require sedation. Rubber bands are placed around the base of an internal hemorrhoid to cut off its blood supply. This causes the hemorrhoid to shrink, and in a few days both the hemorrhoid and the rubber band fall off during a bowel movement.

Possible complications include pain, bleeding and infection. After band ligation, your doctor may prescribe medications, including pain medication and stool softeners, before sending you home.

Contact your doctor immediately if you notice severe pain, fever or significant rectal bleeding.

Interstim

Bowel control problems are not a part of normal aging. Bowel control therapy can help you find relief when there is a disruption between the signals sent from your brain to your bowel. For people with moderate to severe bowel incontinence, the InterStim therapy system is a safe, effective specialized therapy to consider.

The InterStim bowel control therapy system restores communication by gently stimulating the sacral nerve. Studies show that results are effective and long lasting; at 5 years, 85% of patients had achieved success. The process begins with a simple in-office procedure to test the therapy’s effectiveness for you. A thin wire is placed in your upper buttock and connected to a small, external device you can wear under your clothing that delivers stimulation similar to the ongoing therapy.

You and your doctor can evaluate if the therapy is right for you. If the treatment is effective, the next step is a short, outpatient procedure to place a small device in your upper buttock to provide ongoing relief from a discreet, completely implanted system. The FDA approved therapy is adjustable, reversible and provides lasting results. Talk to your doctor to find out if InterStim bowel control therapy is right for you.

Capsule Endoscopy

Capsule Endoscopy lets your doctor examine the lining of the middle part of your gastrointestinal tract, which includes the three portions of the small intestine (duodenum, jejunum and ileum). Your doctor will give you a pill-sized video camera for you to swallow. This camera has its own light source and takes pictures of your small intestine as it passes through. These pictures are sent to a small recording device you wear on your body. Your doctor will be able to view these pictures at a later time and might be able to provide you with useful information regarding your small intestine.

How long does the procedure take?
Capsule endoscopy takes approximately eight hours. Normal daily activities are largely unaffected by capsule endoscopy, unlike many endoscopic procedures that require sedation. When you return to the doctor’s office, the data recorder, worn on your belt during the procedure, is removed so that images of your small bowel can be put on a computer screen for physician review.

Smart Pill (Gastric Emptying Study)

The SmartPill™ Motility Capsule is a disposable capsule that collects samples and data from the gastrointestinal region to help your gastroenterologist accurately locate abnormalities. The non-invasive, non-surgical procedure involves swallowing the Smartpill™ capsule that then travels through the GI tract measuring pressure, contractions, pH levels, temperature, instestinal transit time, whole gut transit time, and gastric emptying time.

This information is recorded for about five days, and patients wear a recorder at all times, except while bathing or sleeping. The Smartpill™ naturally passes through the body, and the recorder is returned to your doctor for examination. Patients do not feel any discomfort during this time and are able to go about their normal, everyday routine.

Pillcam (Virtual Endoscopy)

The PillCam™ Capsule Endoscopy is a capsule about the size of a vitamin with a camera inside that captures accurate and detailed images of the esophagus, stomach, small bowel, and colon to assist your gastroenterologist in accurately diagnosing GI disorders. The images from the PillCam™ are transmitted to a data recorder the size of a walkman that is worn by the patient. After collecting images for several hours, the patient returns the data recorder to the office where the doctor reviews the images. The PillCam™ naturally passes through the body, and patients do not feel any discomfort during while recording images and are able to go about their normal, everyday routine.
